The secret to succeeding in building a thriving dōTERRA business, is hosting events! As a global organisation, hosting a dōTERRA event does not always mean that you will be physically in the same room as your attendees. Being 2016, the options for hosting events are limitless, and in this article, we are going to explain how you can host a productive, online event.

It is important to choose the platform that will be most convenient for you, and your team members. Here are some simple tips to help you get started.

  1. Know your target audience. Understanding who you are trying to reach will help you understand how to reach your audience most effectively. This is also likely to influence which platform you use.
  2. Plan and Prepare. As online events can be held at any time, you should have ample time to plan and prepare in advance. Having all materials ready before an event, will allow you time to edit and make any adjustments as necessary, before the event begins. This will give your attendees confidence in what you are saying and ensure you host the most successful event possible.
  3. Advertise your event. Before you hold your event, decide how you are going to advertise it. Ensure your images are eye catching and enticing, so that they catch the attention of potential attendees.

  5. Create a #hashtag to use specifically for all your events. Hashtags are a great way to make every post you make searchable through different social media platforms. When you, or any of your attendees post on social media using the hashtag, you can search that hashtag to see what people are saying and how they are reacting. Make sure your hashtag is short and simple, easy to remember and unique to your event.
  6. Be Involved. Use social media platforms that facilitate discussion about your event and make sure you are actively involved in that discussion. Answer questions, welcome people to the group, get people talking about the dōTERRA products, anything you can to keep people engaged in discussion. Make sure everyone knows who you are and are comfortable to ask you questions.
  7. Entice participation. Everyone loves receiving gifts- use that to your advantage! Offer giveaways to attendees who invite others to come along, or who regularly comment on posts. Just a little added incentive to keep everyone happy!
  8. Keep the community alive. Remember to follow up with attendees once the event is over. Keep the conversation going, and make sure you are always ready to answer questions or help your team however you can.

Effective time management can be a real challenge for many Wellness Advocates, whether they are just starting out on their dōTERRA journey, or are seasoned dōTERRA experts. Building a dōTERRA business requires hard work, and as your business expands, it gets easier to push yourself down the bottom of the priority list. Managing your time effectively will not only help make sure you are taking care of yourself, but will also allow you more opportunities to meet others and expand your business.

Here are a few tips we recommend, to help you manage your time more effectively:

  1. Use a planner. A planner is a great tool to use to make sure you are keeping on top of your short and long-term SMART goals. This will ensure your daily activities are pushing you to progress towards achieving your monthly, yearly and longer-term SMART goals. That is, goals that are Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely!
  2. Take half an hour. Spend half an hour in the morning or evening (whatever time of the day suits you) to use your daily planner and write down your goals, appointments and anything else you need to remember. Spending just half an hour each day planning your time, will help you organise your schedule and manage your time more effectively.
  3. Avoid long to-do lists. Prioritise the tasks that are crucial for your success, and leave anything that will not aid in your success off your to-do list. Avoiding long to-do lists will prevent over-complicating your day, as well as preventing you from feeling overwhelmed by the day’s tasks.
  4. Schedule time for interruptions. Allow yourself a little flexibility throughout your day! Regardless of how thorough your plan is, things will never go accordingly. Giving yourself some breathing room will allow you to plan for the unexpected!
  5. Look after yourself. Remember, be kind to yourself. Whilst it is important to plan and have a direction, if you do not achieve all you wanted to achieve one day, remember, there is always tomorrow! You may find it helpful to put 15 minutes aside each day, just for yourself!

DIY: Make Your Own Natural Window Cleaner

Not only are cleaning supplies cleaning out your wallet, they could also be hazardous to your health and the environment. According to this WebMD article, “These products [antibacterials and harsh cleansers] don’t work any better than their natural or non-toxic counterparts, and they damage the environment and potentially place our long-term health at risk.” Take the risk out of household cleansers by making your own cleaners at home. They are affordable, easy, eco-friendly, and just as effective (if not more) than store bought cleaners. Make sure to check back often for more ways to make your own cleaning supplies at home. Window Cleaner: What You Need: 16 oz. Spray Bottle (you can purchase one here.) 1 1/2 cup white vinegar 1/2 cup distilled water 8 drops of any citrus oil of your choice (could use Lemon, Lime, Grapefruit, Wild Orange, or a combination)

Directions: Add vinegar, water, and essential oil(s) to spray bottle and shake. You are ready to clean!

Back-to-School with dōTERRA Essential Oils

Having essential oils as a regular part of your child’s daily routine can not only help their health, but can also help boost their cognitive performance.

Here are some tips on how to get your kids to use essential oils throughout the day:

Morning:

Help the kids wake up with either peppermint, wild orange, Citrus Bliss, or On Guard. Afternoon: For a homework helper, diffuse peppermint, wild orange, or rosemary (read past post on rosemary here) to help boost mental focus and concentration. Bedtime: For a good night’s sleep use Serenity or lavender by either diffusing in air, rubbing on bottom of feet, or by placing a couple drops on their pillowcase.
