It’s that time of year again- the time when we all feel super motivated to set our New Year’s resolutions and vow to uphold them for the entirety of the year!
We have come up with a number of strategies you can adopt, to keep yourself on track to achieving those New Year’s Resolutions.
- Breaking down your goals into two categories; short-term, and long-term goals is an effective method of staying on track and prevent us from feeling overwhelmed. Instead of getting overwhelmed by the concept of an overarching goal, let the fact that you have a plan evoke a feeling of security within you. Let it guide you to accomplish the things you truly want to achieve in both the short and the long-term. Let your plan provide clarity around your vision and encourage motivation.
- Developing a SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, results focused, timely) New Year’s Resolution will help you see beyond what you need to achieve today, and remind you that today’s short-term work will lead your progression towards achieving your long-term goal.
- Ensuring your goals are visible at all times, can help remind yourself of your daily tasks, and how achieving them will help you progress towards achieving your overall New Year’s Resolution. It may help to print out your goals, and hang them up somewhere where you’ll see it often; on your desk, in your bathroom, or on your fridge at home. However you decide to display them, keep them as a constant reminder of what you want to accomplish, for the day, for the week, for the month and for the year.
