Self-Massage Body Oils

A beautiful morning ritual to express self-love by anointing ourselves with warm oil infused with essential oils. Abyanga (meaning both oil and love) is an Ayurvedic practice that gives warmth and stability and the perfect way to begin your day.  

Materials You Need:

  • Your choice of body oil: 1/ 4 cup melted coconut oil, sesame oil, sweet almond oil
  • Your choice of dōTERRA essential oils: Lavender, Geranium, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli, Frankincense, Cedarwood, or Clary Sage.
  • Glass jar
  Directions:
  1. Warm your oil gently on a stove top
  2. Transfer to glass jar
  3. Drop your favourite essential oils into the glass gar and gently swish around to mix
  4. Sit or stand comfortable in a warm room
  5. Start at the crown of the head and gently massage your scalp with a little oil. Work down to your face.
  6. Using long strokes on the limbs and circular movements on the joints. Always massage toward the direction of your hear.
  7. Massage abdomen and chest clockwise in circular motions
  8. Finish the massage by spending a couple of minutes massaging your feet
  9. If you can sit with the oil for 5-10 minutes before washing off so it can absorb properly.
  10. Enjoy a warm bath or shower and the feeling of nourishing your body and mind, taking some time out just for you.
